The first DRC Saturday we are hosting an opportunity to build your own Balun! Limited space available so sign-up soon. First come first serve. Depending on how popular the event is will determine if we do more.
You get to choose what type of Balun to build:
- 1:1 balun is good for a Dipole. You get to choose the band or build a fan dipole. This balun will support 1-30Mhz and power up to 200W.
- 1:4 balun is suitable for a LOOP antenna or any antenna between 200-400 ohms. Supports 1-30Mhz and power up to 200W.
- 1:9 balun is suitable for long wire antennas. (This is the one that we have as an example). Supports 1-30Mhz and up to 200W.
All tools need is provided but it would be nice if you have your own tools to limit time people would have to wait to share tools. I have several of all tools but not enough for everyone all at once. Here are the tools that will be used:
- Drill and bits (1/2″, 5/32″)
- Soldering Iron and solder (I have several)
- Scissors or diagonal wire cutter
- Multimeter (I have several)
- Knife/box cutter
- Small adjustable wrench
- Needle nose pliers
- #1 and #2 Philips screwdriver
- Heat gun (I have several)
The cost of this build is $17.00 – Bring cash (exact change) on the day of the build. This helps offset the cost of the kits. Everything else is being donated.
This will take place at my house. 5290 Eldridge Street, Arvada – from 9:00AM to Noon. Parking could be limited depending on weather. If it’s a nice day (no rain) then we will have plenty.
