As this event get closer more details will be sent out and you will be able to sign-up for the event. Seating will be limited so make sure to reserve your spot early when available. The project will have a cost associated to it and this amount will be sent with the announcement.

May 25 – DRC Pico Balloon launch
– This will be located East of DIA. The club will build a pico ballon and take to the launch site early in the morning and then track the ballon and recover “hopefully” still in working order. More information will be provided as this event gets closer. The date may also change due to weather and/or launch window permissions. Stay-tuned.

July 20 – Parks On The Air (POTA) activation – Barr Lake State Park
– This event is during the Parks On The Air weekend so there should be a lot of activity. We will setup early and try to be ready by 9:00AM. This will be at a State Park so entrance fee will be needed. If you have purchased you State pass with your vehicle registration then you will not need to pay.
Where: Barr Lake State Park

Aug 31 – Colorado QSO Party
– This event will be another good event to get some quality mic time. We should have a lot of traffic for this one. This will be at Prospect Arena same place we did most of the DRC Saturdays last year and where we hold DRC Field Day. Bring your own chair.
Where: Prospect Arena

Oct 5 – DRC Camp-out – Winiger Ridge Camping Area
– This is a little different. It will be a two day event (Sat and Sun). We are planning on registering at a rustic camp ground on the North shore of Gross Res in Boulder County. The roads are not improved and lots of rocks and hills but not considered a 4WD only road. You will not get your pusher motorhome in to this location but basic camper with truck should be fine. The campground spots are first come first serve so we’ll have to figure out how to make that work. People that are not camping out can come up for the day and play radio with us. More information as we get closer.

Coordinators for DRC Saturday
Kevin Schmidt – K0KPS [email protected]
Alex Acerra – KS0E [email protected]
Mark Thomas – N0XRX [email protected]

In an effort to provide more opportunities to support the DRC membership, learn about ham radio, test equipment with knowledgeable support, and take some time to get together and have some fun, we have come up with “DRC Saturday”. These Saturday events that we have scheduled are intended to determine if this is something that people would like and would participate. We can do more or less depending on the feedback so please take some time to participate and let us know what you think.

The hope is that we can spread this around the area or even into the mountains but we thought we should start close to home.

We are always looking for people to help coordinate and help facilitate these types of events so please let one of the board members know what you are interested in.

We are also looking for more ideas for this event so please send them to one of the people listed above or let us know during the event.

Bring your own seating, as the provided amount of seats are limited.
